Specialty Fence Services We Offer in Raleigh
Every project below has its own set of rules, codes, or design constraints. We’ve built each of these fence types across the Triangle, and each one links to a dedicated page with full details on materials, process, and what to expect.

Privacy Fencing
Privacy is the number one reason homeowners in the Triangle buy a fence. We build board-to-board and shadowbox privacy fences in wood and vinyl, with custom heights available up to 8 feet. If you want a backyard where nobody can see in, this is where to start.

Pool Safety Fencing
North Carolina requires pool fences to meet specific height, gate, and latch requirements. The fence must be a minimum height, gates must be self-closing and self-latching, and latch hardware must be placed on the pool side of the gate at a height children cannot reach. We design pool enclosures to meet code from the first post — not retrofit after a failed inspection. Aluminum is the most common material for pool fencing because it provides a clear sightline while meeting structural requirements.

HOA Fencing
HOA fencing in Raleigh comes with an extra step most homeowners don’t expect. Most associations require an architectural review application with a site plan, material specs, color samples, and sometimes neighbor signatures. We prepare the full application package for you. You submit it to your HOA board, and we don’t schedule installation until you have written approval. We’ve worked with HOA boards throughout Wake County and the surrounding areas, and we know what most boards are looking for before they’ll approve.

Custom Fencing
Standard fence configurations don’t work for every property. Some lots have significant grade changes. Others need non-standard heights, mixed materials, or designs that don’t come out of a catalog. We handle custom work on a project basis, starting with a site walkthrough to understand the specific challenge before recommending a solution.

Farm & Ranch Fencing
Paddock fencing, vinyl ranch rail, and rural property enclosures for lots with acreage. We build for both functional containment and clean property definition on larger parcels outside Raleigh’s suburban core.

Split Rail Fencing
Split rail defines a boundary without blocking the view. It’s a practical choice for semi-rural properties, large front yards, and homeowners who want a rustic look without the maintenance of a full privacy fence. We build with pressure-treated rails for durability in this climate.

Perimeter Fencing
Full-property enclosures for large lots, security applications, and homeowners who want a continuous boundary around the entire yard. Perimeter projects often combine multiple materials — aluminum in the front, vinyl or wood in the back — and we design the layout during the initial walkthrough to make sure transitions between materials look intentional.

Why Purpose Matters More Than Material
Homeowners often call us with a material already in mind. That’s a fine starting point, but the better question is: what does this fence need to do?
A pool fence has to meet NC code requirements for height, gate hardware, and latch placement. If the material you prefer doesn’t meet those specs, the material has to change. An HOA fence has to pass your association’s architectural review before a single post goes in the ground. Build the wrong style and you’ve spent money on a fence you may have to tear out. A perimeter fence on a graded lot needs stepped or racked panels that follow the terrain — and not every material handles that well.
Start with the purpose. The material follows.
Why Raleigh Homeowners Trust Index Fence for Specialty Fencing
Choosing a fence contractor in Raleigh for specialty work means finding someone who knows the local codes, the HOA landscape, and the soil. Here’s where we stand apart.
We Know Raleigh’s Pool and Permit Codes
We’ve navigated the City of Raleigh’s permit process on roughly 2,000 fence installations since 2020. We prepare your permit application at no extra charge. The city’s $264 permit fee is paid directly to Raleigh, and we handle the documentation so you don’t have to figure out setback lines, easement overlays, or tree protection zones on your own. For pool fences, we verify code compliance for gate swing direction, latch placement, and minimum height before we finalize the design.
We Prepare Your HOA Paperwork
HOA architectural review is where most fence projects stall. The board wants a site plan, material descriptions, color documentation, and sometimes a drawing of the finished product. We prepare all of that. You submit the completed package to your association, and we hold off on scheduling until you have approval in hand. No wasted materials, no torn-out fences, no surprises.
Every Post Set in 80-100 Pounds of Concrete
This is our structural standard on every project — specialty or otherwise. Every post goes 2 feet into the ground and gets 80 to 100 pounds of concrete. Raleigh sits on Piedmont red clay, which holds moisture against posts and shifts with seasonal rain cycles. Our footing depth and concrete volume are designed for this specific soil, and they keep fences plumb through the storms and humidity that define this region.

Questions
Common Questions About Specialty Fencing in Raleigh
What are the code requirements for a pool fence in Raleigh?
North Carolina requires pool fences to meet minimum height standards, and gates must be self-closing and self-latching with hardware positioned on the pool side. The City of Raleigh also requires a fence permit, which costs $264 and involves a review of your site plan and proposed fence layout. We design every pool enclosure to meet these requirements from the start so you don’t face delays or failed inspections.
How do I know which type of specialty fence I need?
The purpose of the fence determines the type. Pool enclosures are driven by code compliance. HOA fences are shaped by your association’s guidelines. Privacy fences are built around height and board style. Custom projects start with whatever constraint makes a standard fence impractical — grade changes, unusual lot shapes, mixed-material needs. During your free consultation, we walk the property and recommend the right approach based on what the fence needs to accomplish.
How long does a specialty fence installation take?
Most standard installations take 1 to 3 days once permits are approved and materials are on hand. Custom projects or properties with significant grade changes may take longer, and we’ll confirm the timeline during your site walkthrough. The permit review through the City of Raleigh typically takes 1 to 2 weeks for straightforward projects.
